Let me start by stating that you have a superb application.
Are you planning in adding support for streaming of audio files eg. MP3, OGG, WMA , etc ?
If so what is the time frame ?

We'd like to do that eventually but we don't really have timeframe. First we want to make sure that the video playback is as good as it gets. We still have plenty of features to implement before we start thinking about music. Also there are already dedicated applications for streaming music in app store.

This is a great idea. Though if there are other apps that already do this, please list them. I have been unable to find them in the AppStore.

It would also be nice to stream to xbox360 like TVersity,

TVersity is an ugly program. Airvid is much bettar!

oops, I thought this WOULD work for mp3's... bad assumption!

What is a good app for doing that?

Loving the app guys, keep up the good work.

I'd just like to add my vote for either audio support in Air Video or an Air Audio app that works off the same server.

Cheers

I'd like to add to that. MP3/iTunes music support would put the cherry on this cake

Please integrate and go for the name change "Air Media"

Thanks for the superb software and app.

I (believe it or not) understand all your concerns and feelings about improving video first, implementing 4.3 features, .. so on. But you are missing an opportunity. Imagine: there are thousands like me. I've used AirVideo since linux-prealpha-1 or so. I like your progress and based on your work I "trust" you. Sure, I miss some features, movie-info, folder.jpg (you're welcome), .. but I am sure these will arrive someday.

However, I have my Debian NAS. Besides my movies I have some MP3 there. I'd love to stream those while in my car (iphone->bt->radio). I have audiobooks over there which I'd like to listen when I go to sleep (remember a sleep-timer when you implement that :-)). I don't want to sync every time. My iPhone only has ~3GB empty space and I often change my mind. I tried UPNP but that is not only complicated, ugly and very-not-live-encoding, it’s completely wife-unaccepted. So I tested subsonic. That’s a nice one. I even bought the promoted iPhone App for $5. Worked great, for 20 more days. Now it tells me, "Yes sir, you already purchased our app and our server is free but if you want to use it with your *iPhone* you need to 'donate' another $10, now". I mean, honestly, wt#@%$!. Nothing out there rocks. Make it a $3 In-App-Purchase and you'll get a lot of new money. And you fight cracked versions as a nice side-effect - and even without XCP-exasperating paying customers.
My IPad is really excited to use AirVideo as a streaming music server, too. It currently connects to the living room Hi-Fi and only streams shoutcast. It is sad but as last.fm turned bitchy and pandora and napster feel like not supporting non-us residents, options are low.

Ah, I mentioned the IPad, here we go. Images Sirs. We make images of cool events but we don't feel like tumblr, tweeting or xyz2.0-social-something. Now we had friends at ours who wanted to see some of pictures. I felt humiliated. Dirty. I really had to grab my laptop for that! Even the HTPC was too crappy (16:9 vs. portrait format does not rock, no no!) For obvious reason PS3 was not an option, too. Pictures are on the same NAS as my Videos and Music. So I investigated Linux-2-Iphone-Picture-"streaming". Bleah! Only Samba (imho) can be stated as somehow usable. So I bought this real nice SMB App (and another $5 gone..). Was not 100% great but it did its job - until we visited family and wanted to show our pictures. Well, 15MB Canon.JPG via Wi-Fi works. Over DSL it just does not. And Samba somehow does not re-encode... I understand that this may be harder as it is a complete new codebase but I am sure some of your IPad-Linux-server users will buy it, too. (Click here)

Yet you have no mentionable business competition. I am tiered of giving "donations" for "free" servers, pay monthly subscriptions _because_ I use an iPhone (ubuntu:one ftw! guys you rule) and keep paying $$$ to some less-than-ideal solution apps.
Please do not feel like I criticize you. I don’t. AV is one of the very few apps I bought months ago and still use it. <3 u. Want to give you my money! Just my two cent :).

I gave up on this request, don't think the dev-team care what the community request anymore.

One year ago I requested it fist time.

I read every single feature request, but we need to prioritize features.

Ditto. Been waiting/hoping for audio file support since I first downloaded this app a year ago, so I can stream the music in my iTunes folder from my PC to my iPad2. Not sure why Apple doesn't support this by default, but I have also not found any quality 3rd-party apps that offer this functionality.

If Air Video added Audio (m4a, mp3, etc) streaming support, that would be fantastic!

Thanks for the excellent video streaming in the meantime =)
