As of version 0.4.0, Mirage supports Air Video natively,
with live conversion.
Other protocols/servers will follow,
but the most important is at least already in
We now have a first version for Android!!!

thank you! (i'm the guy who left that one review on the app)
a couple notes:
* password support would be nice
* i noticed that coming from the osx airvideo server it is streaming an m4v (like it's doing live conversion), but from linux airvideoserver i'm getting the raw video file. no idea why.
* i'm getting force closes periodically when hitting the back button to leave playback
* it seems to either crop or stretch content to fit the device's aspect ratio, so 4:3 is stretched to 16:9 or 16:10
in any case, it's a fantastic start and playback is silky smooth on standard-def stuff -- a little choppy on hd content on my thunderbolt.

Indeed passwords/pins still need a ui,
will be in the next release
Also, multicast discovery seems to be flaky on some devices...
For those that haven't discovered live conversion yet:
long press on video entry will trigger dialog offering
conversion or straight play

Oh, there's the conversion option. Awesome! I'm hoping at some point there'll also be a ui to specify desired resolutions/bitrates, too, but what it's doing now is just fine.

I just came here to post a link for fellow android members seeking air video like capability
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/43484/how-to-get-airvideo-features-in-android-for-free/
Its free and its really good ..
____
I must say I'm overjoyed to to find about mirage.. congrats to the developer for stepping up.. you got a wonderful headstart on this market .. which probably airvideo will never have the benefits, when they even think about it.

Wonderful job. I bought the Air video client for my iPhone, but now I have HTC Desire HD (works great) and Android (ACER) Honeycomb tablet (doesn't work).
I've never really been able to find anything to properly replace Air video.
Two requests:
1: Can you fix the aspect ratio please ? Some videos are squashed or stretched
2: Can you please support the Tegra 250 in Android tablets ?
Also please Keep us informed what happens after the 30th of April when the current app expires ?
I will buy this, when it is finished.
Thanks a million.

guys, i would give up on air video android. i did. but i found something that works just as well and is for tablets and phones.. its called Plex. $5. it works great. if air video guys arent going to bring this app to android, id suggest spending money elsewhere. this app is exactly what i needed. good riddance air video.

I had used plex, its good..
Mirage is ok, but somehow playing high res videos is not very smooth.
I just trid out Qloud Media http://www.qiss.mobi/products_free/qme/qloud-video , its awesome .. even with high resolution video.. Only downside is that I'm having to run 2 servers but still its worth it.

New in ICS Android 4.0 is HTTP Live streaming. Previously I know Air Video needed that in order to work. Maybe an ICS version of Air Video is in the works?

Android 3.0 support HTTP Live Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming), now you can port AirVideo to Android?

Yeah I would love to have air video on my galaxy nexus. I loved the app on my iPhone and the iPad. Hope they develop it for android. I know that there is a demand for it.
