It's awesome.

I really want this support. Thank you.

But I have some language issue about subtitles.

I'm korean, so I want to see my vids. with my own language.

I try to fix this problem, writing property file properly. but failed.

Here's what I did.

1. 'subtitles.encoding=windows-949' -> It seems working.

2. 'subtitle.font=Gulim' -> Every korean shapes rectangle.('Gulim' is most popular font in korea.)

3. 'subtitle.font=Korean' -> Same problem above.

4. 'subtitle.font=' -> Worse.

Then I thought maybe it's not supported yet. Is it true?

I'm really not sure how the font is properly called in Linux.

I'm trying to get this done, but I fail to get mp4creator / mpeg4ip-server properly installed. The project seems to have died back in 2007 and for Debian Squeeze there are no packages present. I can't find the sources to hand-compile either.

Has anybody managed to get mp4creator running on debian squeeze?

edit: found the source, no luck compiling though:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/mpeg4ip/mpeg4ip/1.5.0.1/mpeg4ip-1.5.0.1.tar.gz?use_mirror=ovh

Spotted the admin's comment that mp4creator is used for offline transcoding only, so I'll skip this step for now.

Hi guys, and thanks for the linux server, working great on my XBMC ubuntu HTPC. Great.

But i cant get it to autostart at bootup. I have to manually start it.

I have tried -> http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux

And the script works fine with "sudo start airvideo" but not automaticly at boot.

Can anyone help?

Hello AirVideo-Team,

just installed alpha2 on my old Linux box, using the guide from http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux

It works perfect! Thanks a lot for the development!

Live conversion is a little bit slow, but it's only an old P4 3GHz

There is just one problem: the generation of icons and still pictures dows not work - the server throws an exception:

Did I forgot to install some needed software or is there a bug in the server?

With best regards,

Dirk.

Yes, sun's Java.

After writing the article, I started the AirVideoServer via karmics "startup" and since then, I saw icons. Maybe there is something about running the Server as root or normal user or just with the type of video... The problems where always with MPEG2.ts videos, but I will have a look at it over the weekend an post an update later.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Dirk.

Thank you so much for adding Linux support! I just bought the app last night after testing out the alpha 2 build and seeing how beautiful and polished this app is!

I am running Karmic and am able to play native h.264 files just fine over my LAN and over the internet. However, playing with live conversion only works reliably on my LAN. When I click the "Play with Live Conversion" button when not on my LAN, the spinner comes up over the video but almost always it just sits like that and won't actually start playing ever. I've only had it start playing the video once and when it did, it would only play for a couple seconds and then stop again (to buffer I assume). Is there any way for me to debug this so I can use live conversion when I'm not at home as well?

Thanks!

Are you using iPhone or iPad? for iPad you will need to enable lower bandwidths in global settings.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am using the iPad - I cannot believe I missed such a simple step! I set streaming to 256kb and it seems to be working now. Will this Global Setting also stream any native h.264 videos at this bitrate too (so they don't have to buffer as much either)?

Thanks!

This only works with live conversion. Native (unconverted videos) usually need too much bandwidth to be playable over 3G.

Thanks, that sounds good. If there's any way I can help beta test the Linux Server please let me know!

The instructions at http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux work great!

I got it running on an old PowerPC Mac Mini -- not fast enough for live conversion, amd I had to jump through the hoops here to get IBM's PowerPC Java running - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1116368

But it works! And the Avahi settings above mean I don't even have to put in the IP address!

Fantastic work, thank you so much for doing this!
