Hi folks

Forgive me if this has been covered before (I couldn't find anything via a search) but can't someone please tell me if it's possible and if so how to connect Air Video (running on an iPad) to my NAS running Twonky?

Thanks!

Is there no way I could install a Linux Air Video server on the NAS that's running Twonky?

Even if you could it's probably way too slow to do live conversion.

No problems streaming Twonky content wirelessly to a PS3, so doubt there'd be a problem with doing so to the iPad. Such a shame Air Video's not Linux compatible! Back to the drawing board.... thanks for your quick responses.

I tested Air Video Server on a Synology 1010+ NAS (Atom D510) and it works fine.

A cheaper solution is to install Ubuntu 64-bit and Air Video on a Atom N330 based Nettop (like the cheap Acer Revo).
For resolutions of up to 720p it works great.

Yes it will.... i have just installed it on mine.

It is also running Twonky Server.

You need to have RDP access to the server - as its not a WHS addin.

I am sitting here with my PS3 connected via a hub/switch to the Media Server playing a film via Twonky and my Ipad playing a copy via my BT Wireless Hub - both are sweet.

Quality suffers slighty if you are doing a live conversion at the same time (but i have only just downloaded, so it might need some fiddling).

Play 2 mpegs - no probs what so ever.

i am loving this software.

Are you saying you got AirVideo server to stream 720p video from your Revo smoothly? I have the top Revo model (3610) and it works on for about 30 seconds or less then chokes and sometimes drops the quality to compensate. I was hoping AirVideo would have a way to utilize hardware acceleration because the Revo has a great Nvidia ION graphic chip which can handle high-def playback and I'm sure could really help in the smooth playback. Maybe this is strictly a Ubuntu vs Windows 7 thing?

Also, I have a similar NAS (QNAP TS-219), how did you get AirVideo server installed on your Synology?
