Hi,

I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but can you try copying the Air Video Server to /Applications folder and run it from there?

Any chance of a PowerPC version? Media serving is the perfect use for old hardware, and my old G5's settled nicely into being my HTPC

questions about h264 passthrough:

1) what containers does it work on? I have many h264 in the vob container from back when I used the ps3 to play movies

2) how would one tell if passthrough is working? what would the log say?

3) is there a plan to make it possible to have transcoding on files where a subtitle is detected but passthrough on others?

4) are there other conditions where it chooses to pass through or not?

thank you, I use this program very often. I'm very interested in passthrough because the video quality is better than transcode

In relation to quidnuncs questions, does passthrough ignore the bitrate settings that are set in wifi/3g?

Passthrough is working like clockwork mostly. I've got no audio crackling and no caching going on. Although I noticed that after a while in the movie the audio tends to be out of sync not by much, but enough to be visible. Easily remedied by fast forwarding or stop the video and play from last stop. Keep up the good work!

Will subtitles be able to be usable with passthrough though?

In beta 2 video lags behind subtitles and sound, ≈1 sec difference.

It is mostly tested with MKV. I have never tried it with vob, it might not work depending on how it is muxed.

You would notice decreased CPU load.

I'll consider it.

Right now there are no other conditions (except being on local network)

Does that happen with all videos? Is it constantly reproducible?
Passthrough will not work with subtitles until next iOS release (can't say more at this point)

Does it lag even after you seek?

Admin you missed this Q ..also if it does ignore bitrate might want to gray out the bitrate to illustrate this in the app

Passthrough should only work on local WiFi and it ignores bitrate setting.

Sorry, no PPC support. No recent Xcode version is even capable of doing a PPC build.
