Just checking in, Mr. Admin.

When can we expect the next update?
I just want mp4 playback to go back to normal (I.e. The play button works, don't need live conversion)

I can't say I've noticed any improvements with the beta.

Thanks

Three questions about how this beta Air Video version leveraging AirPlay works before I take the plunge on an AppleTV (I already own Air Video...and it is awesome):

1) If I start up Air Video on my iPhone and pass the video to my Apple TV2 for playback will the transmission of the file then be directly from my computer housing/converting the file to the Apple TV? Basically I would like to know if my wired network (Ethernet cables plugged in to both devices from the main router) can be leveraged during video playback as opposed to WiFi, since the two devices are significantly far from each other and WiFi signals are weak in TV location. I anticipate setting up the AppleTV to only use the wired network and turn WiFi off.

2) How is the resolution of the transcoded file determined? Example: original file is 720p, iPhone screen is only 320 pixels from top to bottom, projector is 720p. My concern, perhaps unfounded, is that a 320p transcoded video would end up being sent to my 720p projector. Is this something that can be set manually? Would AirPlay automatically transcode to the settings of the Apple TV that I can conceivably set to 720p output?

3) If multiple AppleTV’s are on a single network, can you select which AppleTV to send the Air Video transcoded video to?

Thanks, and keep up the great work guys!

Hey guys,

not sure if this has been stated but I seem to be able to access my videos through the internet Even though I have unticked "enable access from Internet (beta)". I am definitely accessing my videos through Internet and not local network since I am tethering my iphone's data plan through to my ipad.

I did do a manual port forward on my router to get it to work in the first place - perhaps this is why?

i use an asus 1215b netbook with an amd e-350 dual core processor and air video works fine with 2.4.3 but not with the betta 2.4.5. Whenever i try to play a video it gives me an ffmpeg error and then it shows invalid on iphone. this happens with all videos i tried. i uninstalled and reinstalled twice and still same problem. reinstalled 2.4.3 and video files play again.
Works fine one desktop.

You can download it for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Changes since last stable release
- Better performance on multi-core machines
- Significantly faster buffering and seeking times (for best performance make sure only one bitrate is selected on client)
- WTV format support (preliminary, might not work with all files)
- Support for AirPlay and high quality 5120kbit/s bitrate (requires client update, currently pending approval)

Changes since beta3
- Fixed playback for files with certain aspect ratios
- Fixed playback for certain files that didn't play at all
- WTV improvements (support still preliminary, beware)
Changes since beta4
- Fixed playback of files with 5 and 6 channel AAC audio

So far so good. I've been using this release some time ago and it fixes the bug that causes air video server to stop working. Also i missing an option to delete the videos you i've watched already in case i want to. It's easier to delete a video or folder from the app than go to the computer itself.
Also the order if you select time it's not correct. Could be possible to use the created time of the file instead the modified time. I'm using MacOs 10.6.7 and this OS changes the modified time all the time. Thanks!

Perhaps your ffmpeg encoders are wrong. Have you tried to install them again? From some good install package?

Does this happen with every video that you try?

Hi,
Just downloaded the beta. When I run it from my desktop pc connected via LAN to a Netgear Dual band N router, it continues to say Looking for UPnP or NAT-PMP compatible device(s)... under remote when connect to internet is enabled. It works fine locally when connect to internet is turned off.

Interestingly enough when i install this on my laptop which is connected to the same router via wireless G, the internet server works perfectly. I would rather not use my laptop since it doesn't have much free space. Can anyone provide help on why my desktop cant make the server connect to the internet with a LAN connection yet my laptop can? Thanks

IF it helps, from the log...

Can you please restart the Air Video Server, wait for it to initialize and send the log to support (at) inmethod.com?
