Feature Requests

Great App! I have a few feature requests that I am hoping can be incorporated into a future release.

Please provide a "Settings" page. From this page, I would like to add an option to auto-start the last played video (i.e. - on startup of Air Video, the last played video will automatically load and present the "Play From" screen.)

Please also consider adding the following features:

- Search. I have a lot of videos and a search feature would make it easier for me to find a video.

- Provide an option to boost the volume of a video. I do not use headphones with my iPod Touch. The built-in speaker is very weak and with some of my videos the audio is hard to hear.

- Allow for “audio only” playback. I sometimes fall asleep listening to a video lecture on my iPod Touch. Using the iPod “Clock” App, I set the Timer on my iPod to “Sleep iPod” after 30 minutes. With video disabled, I am hoping this would extend my iPod’s battery life.

In future we plan to add bookmarking and possibly select last watched video.

Search is a bit tricky - we would have to index the videos. Right now the "benefit" of not indexing it is that you can share entire drive without having to worry how much content you have there and how long will it take to index.

Volume boost is very likely to be added.

Audio only is a rather niche feature request, we'll think about it.

I am glad you are very likely to add "Volume boost".

Hi! I'll post my suggestion here so not to make a new topic:
As I mentioned in another topic, I use my PC to watch TV, and, (this is why I'm really happy that I found AirVideo) I can watch TV recordings on my iPhone without need to stop TV on a computer.
But some of the recordings are unsuccessful, so I want to be able to delete them right from AirVideo; and also, to avoid cluttering, I sort the recordings into folders, so I would also want to be able to move files between folders right from AirVideo.

we don't allow deleting arbitrary files for security reason. The only files Air Video will allow you to delete are converted files and that is only while the original files exist. Especially with access over internet this would otherwise be a security risk.

there's a recycle bin for that

you might also require users to enable the deleting function from server app' settings. But it would be really useful.

Search might just be a fast forward that shows every 20th or so frame and stops fast forwarding when you let off the button.
For those of you that don't use earphones, I have seen a device that clips on the bottom of the phone and deflects the audio forward.
For a delete you could instigate a password required delete.

wishlist:

-audio boost option
-image ajust (bright, contrast, sharpness etc...)
-display current video bitrate at seek screen (for optimal quality set for my connection)
-files search
-encoding video by Ati\nVidia GPU for faster conversion

-2pass (CPU) offline encoding option

Our top priorities for next major update are subtitles support and audio boost. Displaying current bitrate on seek screen might be a nice touch

I'm new here and a have a feature request!! I downloaded the free Version for iPod and iPhone and have a problem with the Windows Version!! The Problem is that I added a networkfolder from our server and when i want to convert a video (no Live Conversion!!!!) I have a error!! I know the problem!! The problem is that I don't have write permissions on the networkfolder!!! So can you add the option to select the output folder of the converted files???

Hello, Admin.

Your software is great! It has a lot of necessary features, especially useful while sitting on a toilet sink!

But have to leave Handrake on my computer because I need 2 features more:
1) encoding .vob files (I keep most of my DVD collection on home server in original format);
2) encoding more then 1 audiostream of video file simultaneously (most of files in my DVD collection have more then 1 audiostream).

Streaming Music..would be nice too..Beside Video..

I would love to have live streaming of internet videos/tv... Especially flash videos..... I dont know how far it is possible but it will be a great addition...

Ability to select video which frame to be used as the videos icon on iphone selection menu or to use a jpg file similar to mp3 embedded file.
