It can happen with mkv files (due to bug I've mentioned before), but it definitely shouldn't happen for .avi files. Can you tell me what process locks the file? AirVidoeServer.exe or ffmpeg.exe?

Airvideoserver.exe
Some of the mkv files I have do not contain any subtitles.

It is possible that Air Video Server still holds the lock even though the files don't contain subtitles - it opens the file to scan for subtitles. However it doesn't do that for avi files.

You're right it only seems to be with mkv files. I thought the problem also happened with avi but I just tried and it doesn't occur. I'll wait for the next release, thank you!

When I try to run the new airvideo server I get
"---------------------------
Outdated Bonjour Version Error
---------------------------
Your Apple Bonjour version is outdated. Please update your Apple Bonjour installation.
Closing this Window will take you to Apple Bonjour download page.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
"
I downloaded and install, and verified that I have the latest Bonjour service installed and running, but I still can't run airvideo server. Windows 7 32-bit. Tried rebooting/reinstalling.
Help? The old server worked great.

This should be fixed in latest Air Video Server beta
http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/list/818.page
Have you tried that yet?

Don't see an edit button, so just posting to say I fixed the problem by uninstalling Bonjour and Airvideo, rebooting, then reinstalling both.

I'm having issues 'playing' files which I have encoded in handbrake which were previously playing fine before the upgrade to 2.1.2. Now I just get Quick Time errors on my iphone stating that the movie cannot be played. If I select Live Conversion the files will play though.

This can happen with files that are "on-edge" with bitrate or resolution. We changed the way we play such files to get better TV out support but it seems to be causing problems for some. What kind of iPhone are you using?

Okay, we'll try to revert to original method in next update. In the meanwhile you might need to use live conversion.

I can play my movies on TV with my iPhone but it won't play with Ipad using the same docking station. With the Ipad only sound but no video. Any idea?
BTW Air Video is the best app for video, Thank you!

I had this same issue on whatever the latest version is tonight (2.2.5?)
Turns out that although I DID have the latest bonjour installed, I ALSO had version 1 installed as well. I removed v1 and Air Video Server launched finally. Just an FYI and possibly a bug to log.
