Admin you missed this Q ..also if it does ignore bitrate might want to gray out the bitrate to illustrate this in the app

Passthrough should only work on local WiFi and it ignores bitrate setting.

Any chance we could get remote wifi too? With fios internet these days it should be an issue to stream

Although I noticed that after a while in the movie the audio tends to be out of sync not by much, but enough to be visible. Easily remedied by fast forwarding or stop the video and play from last stop. Keep up the good work!

Will subtitles be able to be usable with passthrough though?

Does that happen with all videos? Is it constantly reproducible?
Passthrough will not work with subtitles until next iOS release (can't say more at this point)

I tried only with 3 movies, 1080 and 720p... And the out of sync happened aroun 20-30 minutes in the movies. If you want logs which one do I give you? Will try again tomorrow at the earliest.

Ok, no sweat with the subs Perfectly doable without it

For me the audio goes out of sync on this server version and the newest app version WITHOUT passthrough... (720p mkv file + .srt sub file)

To everyone requesting the linux version, it will be released once we get the a/v sync issues fixed.

I'm testing some changes now affecting the A/V sync, but apparently I need to leave it running longer.

I don't think it'll help but I get a 1 second delay on the video with this one mkv (every other one I've tested is fine)
http://pastebin.com/NibHBA9i

2 tries, first with passthrough, second without. Both have the same delay that exists after seeking, or exiting the app then resuming from a previous time etc. The passthrough also has an audio stuttering problem when seeking that lasts ~5 seconds, but it's not big enough to complain about. I can also post what MPC reports about the streams too if you want.

Can you guys try beta 3 before I announce it in another thread and let me know if it helps? It should fix the FLV playback and has different way of doing A/V sync.

Works great now, tested same video with both passthrough and without, and 4 other videos too.

Is it normal for the app to crash to springboard if you exit while playing, open the app again, press 'done' to leave the video and try to press the back button to return to the folder? It happened about 4 times just now...

Not really. What firmware version? iPhone or iPad?

iOS 5.1.1, latest app version, iPhone 4S.
Diagnostics and usage on the phone has 5 crash reports from airvideo, with 'EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)' as the type *shrug*. I don't know how to get these off the device and to you...

It's okay, I'll get the logs eventually.

Not sure really, what is your usecase? We'll have better way of displaying subtitles (that will work with passthrough) in future and other than that, maybe 1080p VC-1?

Would be great with subtitles + passthrough, but I have concerns about 10-bit H264 (is it supported by iOS?) and interlaced video.

That is a good point.
