I'm pleased to announce that new Air Video Server beta version is available.

You can download it for Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows.

Improvements in this release:
* Subtitle Support! SRT, SSA, SUB (MicroDVD) formats are supported. Text subtitle track in MKV files are also supported.
* 64bit transcoding on 64bit Macs
* Windows Installer should configure proper rules for all firewall profiles
* Optimized transcoding for multicore CPUs
* More UPnP workarounds for broken routers

Changes since beta 2:
* Fixed version number in Windows installer
* Fixed subtitle loading bugs
* Stability improvements

Please keep in mind that subtitle support is new. Feedback is very welcome. Also this build DOES NOT SUPPORT PowerPC Macs.
This is a beta version so treat it as such. Things might not work quite as expected

Update: If the accented characters don't show right you need to adjust subtitle encoding in Air Video Server properties.

Positioning and format codes are gone from the subtitles compared to beta 2 , and the anime where they simply didn't show works too now.

Thank you very much for the speedy fix , it was a very nice surprise ! /thumbsup

Kind regards

Air Video Server can't run on java 1.5.
Since my mac has a intel 32-bit CPU, it's impossible to update to java 1.6.
What shall I do?

Hi,

that would be a bug. What OS X version are you using? Also, can you please post the output of "Console" application after you try to launch Air Video Server? Thanks.
Air Video Sever shouldn't require Java 1.6. What exactly doesn't work for you?

hi everyone

Air Video Server is the best funktiunally app ever.. for me it works just fine I play a MP4 Viedo 2.64GB large with 720p.BluRay.x264 resolution the movie started
immediately.
- Swedish characters are displayed in rectangular form with question marks in it, is there any possibility to fix this because the text is unreadable
Å, Ä and Ö letters are not displayed..

FIXED
On Windows Browser I use Unicode ( UTF-8 ) but in the Air Video subtitles as mentioned below seems to work best
On Default Encodi I use : North European (ISO-8859-4) and it shows the letters Ä and Ö, but the letter Å appears sometimes as a square or a little í

Yet again I thank you for a wonderful program that * actually * works for me.

Hi,

you need to adjust encoding in Air Video Server properties. I'm not sure which encoding you need though.
