I'm pleased to announce that new Air Video Server beta version is available.
You can download it for Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows.
Improvements in this release:
* Subtitle Support! SRT, SSA, SUB (MicroDVD) formats are supported. Text subtitle track in MKV files are also supported.
* 64bit transcoding on 64bit Macs
* Windows Installer should configure proper rules for all firewall profiles
* Optimized transcoding for multicore CPUs
* More UPnP workarounds for broken routers
Changes since beta 2:
* Fixed version number in Windows installer
* Fixed subtitle loading bugs
* Stability improvements
Changes since beta 3:
* Fixed problem when Air Video Server froze on startup / shutdown.
Changes since beta 4:
* Overlapped subtitles should be supported properly.
Please keep in mind that subtitle support is new. Feedback is very welcome. Also this build DOES NOT SUPPORT PowerPC Macs.
This is a beta version so treat it as such. Things might not work quite as expected
Update: If the accented characters don't show right you need to adjust subtitle encoding in Air Video Server properties.

Now with the subtitle support is almost perfect. The only thing that I miss is a feature that I can adjust the position, the size and the color of the subtitle.
Thanks.

When A Video has Black Parts because of the size. You can zoom to Fullscreen via Clicking. The Subtitle get Zoomed with, so thee Subtitle isnt always Readable. The Secund Lines Gets somtime Zoomed out, i think its not changeable becuase the subtitle are rendered on the server side. Just want to let you now
ASS Works now fine Thanks!

But you can zoom the video in Resolution setup (in conversion settings). That way you can set exactly how much video will be cropped. And the subtitles will be rendered correctly.

I just installed this beta and now I cannot do offline converts anymore if the path contains åäö. Live conversion still works but offline converts just stops.
The logs shows errors like:
Conversion: Could not open 'D:\Gameplay - Ssong 3\Gameplay.S03E02.SWEDiSH.PDTV.XviD-MsR\7f029ac9-d26f-453a-886b-ea36e7622996.aac'
After a offline convert stops I cannot watch the episode because Air Video still thinks it is converted.
Bug or me doing it wrong?

Hi,
that's a known issues with unicode support on Windows, should be fixed in next beta.
You can look in the folder if you see a file that ends with -airvideo.m4v and delete it. After that you should be able to watch it using live conversion.

I have found some mkv's where subtitling just stops at some point .
Will send links in PM for testing.
When i seek to some point after the incident , subtitles appear again.
Thank you in advance
Phoenix.

OK, I'll wait for next beta.

Can you support .SMI file Format? Our country Korea all most people are using .SMI subtitle format.

Maybe we'll add the parser in future updates. Right now we need to focus on getting current subtitle support as solid as possible.

I'm not able to run air video server 2.1.8 beta 5 in my Macbookpro 17" (mid-2009) running osx 10.5.8
The application doesn't open.
Version 2.1.7 runs without problems.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi!
Is it possible to deactivate the subtitles? Or will it be available in the final 2.1.8 build?

The option to disable subtitles should be available in next server beta version.
