Tried something the other day that I think should have worked, but it didn't. Wondering if it is possible...

Went to the in-laws the other day with a MacBook Pro loaded with several movie and tv show files, and iPhone. While there, I set up an ad hoc computer-to-computer network on the MacBook Pro using "Create Network..." feature. Next, I started the Air Video server on the MacBook Pro. Then, I navigated to Settings/network on the iPhone and selected the new network. But when I then opened the Air Video app on the iPhone, it didn't recognize the ad hoc network. Instead, it brought up a message saying that a wi-fi network was needed.

Is there some way of doing this? I'd hate to have to carry around an Airport Express base station just to accomplish this.

Thanks!

Hi,

that's a bug in iPhone code - it has trouble detecting adhoc network as WiFi. Still, after you dismiss the warning (which can be disabled in preferences) things should work.
