Air Video Server 2.4.5-beta6 released

I'm pleased to announce that new Air Video Server version is available.

You can download it for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Changes since last stable release
- Better performance on multi-core machines
- Significantly faster buffering and seeking times (for best performance make sure only one bitrate is selected on client)
- WTV format support (preliminary, might not work with all files)
- Support for AirPlay and high quality 5120kbit/s bitrate (requires client update, currently pending approval)

Changes since beta3
- Fixed playback for files with certain aspect ratios
- Fixed playback for certain files that didn't play at all
- WTV improvements (support still preliminary, beware)
Changes since beta4
- Fixed playback of files with 5 and 6 channel AAC audio
Changes since beta5
- Fixed cutting of past few seconds during playback
- Fixed direct streaming
- Workaround for punctuation in RTL subtitles
- WTV support improvements

Well, it wasn't supposed to. Anyway, I did a linux release too so the URL will now be working, note it is also recommended to update your FFmpeg build.

there's a problem with folders' reading

all ok with the folders and subfolders in my mac os hdd

there are problems with some subfolders' reading in my external hdd, subfolders seems empty

all ok with the beta5!

Are the subfolders empty when you browse them with finder first? Air Video doesn't know that the folders are on external HDD, those are details handled by the operating system.

I don't know the reason, but with the beta5 the problem didn't exist!

So if you now revert to beta 5, everything works as it did before?

anyway the subfolders that can't be read are even the same!

but I can't understand because with the beta5 the problem don't exist

it isn't a mac problem, there's a bug in the beta6 version

Any idea when, if ever, we are going to be able to run Air Video Server as a service? I'd like to run this automatically on my Windows Home Server but don't want to have to login as a user each time I reboot.

Also, could we get like a 30 or 60 sec skip ahead button? It'd be nice to skip commercials in Recorded TV.

iTunes playlists are again playing like they should - thanks very much for the update !

might be a redundant question, but will we see an option to keep original file size- and of course quality?
beta 5 seemed to offline convert files to sizes far smaller than previous releases and defin quality not as good.
currently converting same file with beta6, will let you know.

With the new updated iPad client, my H264 .ts files from my Hauppauge HD-PVR will no longer seek properly. The files play fine if you don't try to seek them at all (with Live Conversion), but if you touch the seek bar at all, they stop playing and just say "loading" forever. I'd seen this behavior before on my iPhone when I switched to the beta versions of the server, but reverting back to the current stable server fixed it. However, now that I've updated the client on the iPad, the same thing is happening even with the old stable server version. I tried updating to the new beta6 version of the server (I'd previously seen the issue with beta5 and maybe beta4 before that), but it didn't help.

This makes AirVideo much less useful for me, because the a LOT of my files are from the HD-PVR...

PS. Sorry I didn't report this before... I've been very busy with a new baby, and it slipped off of the "to do" list.
