Video freezes but time bar keeps moving iPad 2

After a couple minutes, my video freezes, but it makes no effort to convert any additional video after it freezes. My CPU load drops to 0% but the time bar on the ipad keeps moving. Here's my Live Conversion Log. NullPointerException - null doesn't sound good...

We have had reports of it but I wasn't able to reproduce it. Does it happen constantly? At the same time? With all your files or just some?

I have the same problem on m iPad 2. The problem seems to have appeared after the latest update however. Two days ago I had no problems what so ever. Updating the server software did not help either. Is it possible two downgrade to the previous version anyhow?

there hasn't been any changes in 2.4.8 and 2.4.9 that could be causing this. The timing probably just an accident. The only way to downgrade is if you kept your old Air Video IPA file for previous version.

Thank you for replying admin. the problem happens intermittently at various times. I also noticed that it only started happening since the last Air Video update for iPad. It only happens while doing a live conversion, not while just streaming.

Thanks Admin for the quick reply. I re-installed the 2.4.8 version again but the problem is still present. I have noticed that if I tap the fast forward button it starts again, without delay, and goes on for about a minute when it stops again and I have to tap the fast forward button again.

I will try with another router to see if it's just my router that looses some packages on the way and causes the problem. I'll get back to you.

Have you tried restarting the iPad? Even cold restart - hold both bower and menu button until it shuts down.

Now I must admit that I feel kind of stupid. The cold restart did solve the problem, thank you!

Just to chip in, I'm another iPad 2 user who is experiencing the same issues as described in this thread and which some other iPad 2 users describe in the separate thread entitled 'constant pausing during live playback'.

I think there are far too many instances of iPad 2 users describing the same experience to be a coincidence, and I'm sure there's a real issue going on here. It would be great to get to the bottom of it, identify the issue and take it from there, whether it's an AirVideo update that is required or whether it's the Apple Firmware or hardware, it needs some proper investigation.

I can appreciate the situation for Admin, it must be really frustrating to not be able to replicate the problem and therefore not have a starting place from which to analyse or systematically go through the possible contributing factors, but to be fair it sounds like Admin have a 1st gen iPad and without the same hardware as those reporting the problem, what is the likelihood of being able to recreate it? - not that I'm suggesting Admin should have every kind of device, machine or platform at their disposal!

I work in web development/IT sector, and it is fair to say a lot of the problems you can get reported do lie 'between chair and keyboard' but I've seen separate issues affect iPhone 3G/3GS/4 users differently so why isn't it possible that an issue is present with iPad 2 that isn't present on iPad 1?

If Admin would like to come up with a testing procedure I'm sure a few IPad 2 users would be more than happy to offer their findings.

I'm pleased if the cold restart really did help Maskinen, but I've got to say it made no difference to the issue for me. Be interested to hear if it solved the problem for anyone else?

Air Video is of course tested on iPad 2. I don't claim that this problem doesn't happen, however at this point it seems to be a bug in iOS firmware / iPad decoder, as it only happens on iPad 2.
