djdan00 wrote:I had air video working perfectly on ubuntu and my iphone. I just upgraded to iOS 4 and now when I go to 'play with live conversion' it plays the video for a few seconds then drops back to the app.
I have tried reinstalling the app and have updated the .jar to the alpha 3 version.

Any ideas??? Do I need to update other things now im using the alpha 3 version. Thanks

Have you tried to remove the .air-video-server directory from you home directory? Might help.

Is installing on hardy a bad idea?

Having trouble installing ffmpeg from here:
http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/licenses.html

Installing 2.25 gives me a ERROR: libx264 version must be >= 0.83.
Installing 2.20 gives me a ERROR: libx264 version must be >= 0.79.

I have installed the latest version of libx254-dev available for hardy, 1:0.svn20071224-0.0ubuntu1. Which is of course way below the revision 0.svn20100115-0.0~kkstemp1 recommended here: http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux

Do I have any other options?

Thanks for the Linux support, and I'm happy to donate more if you are willing to add ARM (processor) support.

My QNAP with Debian would be ideal for streaming converted videos, but Java is a blocker at the moment.

You're running the wrong ffmpeg. I had the same problem when I tried to get it running with the system installed ffmpeg. Just follow the instructions at:

http://wiki.birth-online.de/know-how/hardware/apple-iphone/airvideo-server-linux

He even tells you where to grab the AirVideo specific ffmpeg and how to configure and build it. You can build this special ffmpeg without installing it, then just point the .properties to the ffmpeg you just compiled.

This evening, I watched an MKV on my iPad, no problems.

Good luck,
Tim.

Thank you!!!! I didn't get why i couldn't get Live Convert to work. This is great! Another happy linux customer!

Again big thanks for the Linux support!!
I managed to get it up and running on my QNAP TS-209 II with Debian and Open Java.

It's not fast but it's working!

Haven't really seen an update to air video since alpha3... in the interest of keeping the linux version up-to-date, is it possible to take the AirVideoServer.jar from mac/windows and merge it with the linux version in order to produce a workable linux build?

Has anyone found a way around the WAN streaming bit rate downgrading? The first 15 seconds or so play just fine then audio quality drops then video drops entirely and all I get is uber low bit rate audio.

This wasn't an issue pre iOS 4.0...

Any suggestions? I know it is trying to negotiate a low bitrate so that it would not chew up my data however I have 6GB a month and I would prefer that this would downscale for me. It works if I establish an L2TP tunnel back to home and play it through the internal ip address - no issues then - even if going over 3G.

Can anyone comment?

Thanks.
