EDIT 24/06/2010:
Recently I extended my Air Video Mod. By installing the mod and the new vlc extensions you can stream live-tv (iptv, set top boxes, sat/cable receivers), dvds (iso rips, vobs), rtp/usp/rtsp streams, file formats not supported by ffmpeg but supported by vlc.
Information and downloads can be found here
Note: the mod packs are not supported by inmethod.
Enjoy,
JockyW
=============================================================================================================
I've modified latest Air Video server so that it allows to select and play live video streams from my settop boxes (dreambox & dbox).
A TV channel can be selected from a channellist (a list with channel logo thumbnails). Air Video server then sends a zap (channel change) command to the settop box and the stream can be played on the iPhone using live conversion. This works perfect and I can view my favorite TV channels live and in good quality wherever I am thru wifi and 3G.
On the server a file called channels.ini must be added with 3 lines for each channel: thumbnail movie filename, zap url, stream url. The zap url is sent to the settop box once the user starts live playback and the stream url is the stream which is being transcoded by Air Video server.
Here is a snippet:
This can easily be applied to live streams from webcams, surveilance cams and many other settop boxes.
My intention is to publish the mod today in a couple of sat receiver related forums.
So far I have posted the modpack here: http://www.i-have-a-dreambox.com/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=127338
Please note that my mod may no longer work after the release of the upcoming Air Video client & server.

Hi,
sounds very interesting. I own a DM7025+ so it's perfekt for me
Maybe you can work together with the AirVideo developer for future releases.

Any news on this? It would be great to stream my mms stream from my capture card using air video. The video quality is unbeatable.

Thank you very much, it worked perfectly with a MPEG2 stream from Tversity. But I wanted to use it to stream a MMS stream from my capture card in my compute using Windows Media Encoder and i did not have success (someting like mms://localhost:1234). Dou you know if it is possible? Thanks for your attention and great mod.

Unfortunately ffmpeg does not support the MMS protocol.
Supported protocols are:
file
gopher
http
pipe
rtmp
rtp
tcp
udp
VLC does support it and I'm planning a next mod where ffmpeg will be substituted by VLC. That will also enable us to stream DVDs and DVB-S2 streams.

Any idea what can be done that the box will stop running once I quite the application?
Thanks a lot.

Any thoughts on when the VLC based server will be available? I have authored several DVD's on the PC that I would like to access. (MPEG2/.vob/.ifo, etc files).
Also, any favorite analog video/IP encoders that might be integrated with your server??
Great App, Huge Potential.

Yes, ready and published here.

Enjoy,

Hi, i'm new to all of this so pardon my ignorance please. I like to stream live soccer games on my laptop through sites like veetle or atdhe.net, etc...is there anyway to get those streams on my iphone for when I'm traveling during games? Perhaps using this software? Thanks in advance.
