I'm pleased to announce that new Air Video Server version is available.
You can download it for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
This release contains a new FFMpeg build that should fix problem with certain AVI files.
Note that this update will reset the thumbnail cache so it's normal for thumbnail to get regenerated.

Weird, MKV internal sub encodes fine but .avi's soft sub doesn't work = /

What format are the subtitles in? Does the file have exact name as video file (apart from extension)?

No the subtitles are internal, i.e. they are inside the .avi file but can be toggled on/off in vlc/mplayer osx extended.

Air Video only supports embedded subtitles in MKV files. Embedded subtitles in avis are not supported (there are rather rare anyway).

I am having a weird issue on Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit where the client on the iPhone is clearly communicating with the server, the list of the files to be converted is not updated on the server side. The client side, however, properly shows all files that are in a particular folder.

Do you see the files in conversion queue on client?

Yes, the files in conversion do appear on the client.

Are you sure there is only one Air Video Server instance running?

Yes, only one instance is running. Additionally, when I start the server, there is no message beside the "Start Server" button like on the stable 2.2.4 version you have available. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit.
Would it also be possible to be able to add files for conversion from the server side?

Also, let me note about the client that every now and then, there are files that the client considers to be invalid (No Video Stream found in file). However, on my computer, I can play these files just fine (they are .mkv files).

I am no longer seeing the issue where the client and server is out of sync. I believe the reason was because I had not restarted my computer since installing this beta version.
On that note, is it recommended to uninstall any currently installed version of the server software before installing a newer version?

The installer should be able to detect that Air Video Server is running and ask user to stop it. You shouldn't have to uninstall the old version before installing new one.
