I'm using terminal but when I tried to start it via the GUI, it doesn't load up. Not a problem for me, I use CLI 99% of the time, but wanted to give a heads up.

Cheers.

Missing package dep. apt-get install ruby should fix your issue.

Thanks.

I'm wondering this too! I accidentally upgraded before reading the "what's new" so now I can't use Air Video on my iPad or iPhone since the current Linux server doesn't seem to support the new client.

A new update would be great as the newest version of the app doesn't work with the server

What are the options that need to be enables when compiling the newer build of FFMPEG? The option to compile with libfaad enabled (like previous builds) appears to have been removed.

Are there any new features added in Alpha 5? What are all of the configuration (properties) file options?

Many thanks for this new version! The new build of ffmpeg performs much better on my 2.2GHz Athlon II X4 than the previous version. It made a lot of high-quality 1080p MKV's stutter on my iPad because ffmpeg couldn't keep up with transcoding. In this new version ffmpeg transcoding performance seems much and much higher, and the stuttering is completely gone.

Also, it would indeed be nice to have a new properties file to see which options we have in configuring the server.

Thanks you very much for this effort, I really love this piece of software!

Hi all,

I've updated the Ubuntu package to Alpha5 server and the new FFMPEG (Ubuntu Natty only right now):

https://launchpad.net/~rubiojr/+archive/airvideo/

Installation instructions:

http://blog.frameos.org/2011/02/08/installing-airvideo-linux-server-in-ubuntu/

Those of you already using the package in Natty can apt-get upgrade.

The new ffmpeg requires a newer libx264 (>= 0.99) which is not present in maverick/lucid AFAIK. It will take me some more time to backport the packages to those releases.

Let me know how it goes.

Rgds.

I'm getting an unexpected error on iPad with Alpha 4 and Alpha 5 and the current client app, Alpha 3 seems to work ok but no AirPlay to Apple TV . I'm on Ubuntu 10.10

Any thoughts?

Thanks rubiojr. Up and running in 2 minutes. Now my video collection from my Mythtv server also available via the iPhone/iPad. Good stuff

Thanks also to InMethod for making the Linux server available.

Peter
