I finally got his to work. I could not get remote access to work without running Lighthouse from Codelaide software, and manually enabling UPnP on my router. Lighthouse is a utility that with automatically forward ports you designate for certain applications. I set up Lighthouse to recognize when I was running Air Video, and it does the rest. I don't know why manually forwarding ports using my router's interface didn't work. Just thought I'd share this with the board.

I have a software conflict. I have both Air Video and EyeTV. Part of EyeTV is EyeConnect (server). It allows the EyeTV iPhone app to connect to your Mac. Unfortunately when EyeConnect is running, I can't connect to Air Video. Both stream videos to the iPhone. Air Video is light years ahead of EyeTV. It's stable, reliable and works just great. I would't even need EyeTV except the one feature that works well, is that you can schedule the Mac to record a show remotely. Ideally I would use EyeTV to schedule a recording of a show and Air Video to watch a show.

So I am trying to figure out a away both servers can be running and allow access to the Mac. Has anyone had this problem and figured out a way around it?

Air Video is clearly the better product here. I will stick with it. But being able to record a show remotely would be great.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4
AirVideo 2.2.7u1
EyeTV 3.4.2 (6181)

Hi,

I don't see why there should be any conflict since they use different ports. You can send me the remote support log from Air Video Server when EyeConnect is running to support (at) inmethod.com

Please follow the first post and send the relevant screenshots to support (at) inmethod.com . The mail should include screenshots from your router configuration. In your case you might need to configure port forwarding manually (as described in the post)

Hey Admin. Having provlems playing videos on ipad.. I have the server running on my computer and my Remote status is "ok". I test connection and everything is ok. I can connect to the videos folder with my ipad and i can see the videos, but when i press "play with live conversion", it loads the video, but then nothing happens. it doesn't play the video.. i press the button again and the same thing happens.. I've followed all port forwarding guides and everything should be fine with the connection. again, status is "ok". i'm using wifi on windows 7.. any help is appreciated.

btw, I've tried many different videos so it shouldn't be a problem with the videos

RESOLVED:

alright, just an update. I figured out that ffmpeg was crashing on my computer, which was kinda odd. So i uninstalled the air video server and downloaded it again, installed it, and now it's working fine. Sweet!

btw, for people here having the "No UPnP or NAT-PMP compatible device" problem even after setting up the port forwarding, make sure you uncheck "automatically map port" in remote tab option... kinda obvious, but worth a mention

Just my 2 cents:

When testing remote access you really should be on 3g / another network than your home network.
If you try to access the server with your outside ip adress (http://whatismyipaddress.com/) while using a LOCAL wifi connection, your router will most likely block the connection

What is the exact message? Are you sure you are using server PIN?

My remote access doesn't work on 3G or wifi. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue?

Whats working: Local home wireless network

Whats NOT working:

1. Using wifi at local public library, Keep spinning "Resolving Server Pin". However, no problem viewing streaming video from Netflix!

2. No problem accessing airvideo via Starbuck's Bell.ca Hotspot ? works just like at home!

Could it be library is using Proxy.
The precess of logging in is that first will have to check(accept) conditions before allowing to connect to the internet.

what should I try next?

Thanks
