Air Video can't detect language for external subtitles. But if you chose the file it should still use it.

Well, that would probably means Air Video Server has problem loading the subtitles. Can you attach the subtitle file here?

Same issue happened to me. The srt subtitle can't show anything in AirVideo in my iPad, while they work perfect in my PC.
The srt files are with English and Chinese cahracters in ANSI format, the option "Chinese(Windows)" and other options were tried in the server but still didn't work either. Also tried to save them as UTF-8 and set correspondingly in the server, still nothing of subtitle were shown.
Please kindly share your advices and suggestions. Thanks!

Does the subtitle file have exact same name as the video file? (apart from the extension). If you tap to video preview and then "Subtitles", do you not see the subtitle in list?

For sure they have exact the same name except the extention, like the requirement playing in PC. When tap to video preview and then "Subtitles", lines like "Unknown Language srt" show up. Whichever Automatic or one of "Unknown Language srt" lines was selected, the subtitle didn't show.
I'm wondering if any requirements when install Air Video in PC with Vista Ultimate? for instance, any other sotware, like VobSub?
Thanks for your attention.

Unknown language - srt is okay. Air Video doesn't know what language the SRT file contains so it displays it as unknown. However if you select it the subtitles should be displayed unless there is something wrong with the file. You can attach the file here and I'll take a look.

I found the cause, at least resolved the issue in my PC. The firewall, Oupost Pro, rejected the access to localhost loopback for Air Video server and ffmpeg. I had to add "Allow" rule for those manually, though the client and server already resides in a "Trusted" LAN. Hope this would help others.
