Support for MPEG-TS  XML

Hi,

first let me say: what a wonderful application

It would be nice if you include MPEG-TS support, for recorded DVB-S/C/T streams. The File extension is .ts on my Dreambox DVB-S receiver. I think ffmpeg already supports this streamtype.

If you need anyone for testing, drop me a mail: mogway71@online.de

PS: The new UPNP port forwarding feature is still running with an AVM Fritz!Box 7240 router.

Hi,

The 2.1.0 beta version should already support MPEG transport stream (with .ts extension). Does it not work for you? Is the file not listed or does Air Video refuse to play it? If so can you post the live conversion log? (Available in Logs tab).

It works fine, didn't try it with the beta

Some noticeable problems:
If the files located on the MAC, everything is fine

If the files located on the DVB receiver hard disk it takes a long time to generate the thumbnails (IEE 1394-G Network between). I think the Air Video server is to transfer the whole file to create the thumbnails and i got a timeout after some minutes. The normal file sizes about 2-9 GB. My test file is about 215MB ... 5 minutes recording.

While the thumbnail generates it starts many ffmpeg processes:

After a few minutes there are 15 ffmpeg tasks!

In the directory is only one MPEG-TS movie:

Hi,

Air Video deos not transfer the whole file but it does try to seek in it. That might cause the problem here. You get so many ffmpeg processes because there are many files and each one makes ffmpeg hang. This does not usually happens (except in your case).

I'm not sure how to fix this yet. It would be helpful if you could leave just one file (relatively small so that it doesn't take too long to generate the thumbnail) in folder and try to load the folder content in Air Video client. After it loads the thumbnail (or not if it takes too long) copy the thumbnail generation log (available in logs tab on server) and send it to me as private message.

Thanks.

In the directory is only the test file. so Air Video/ffmpeg have only to scan this one.

I'm testing some things and send you the log...

Right, sorry, it's not usual that ffmpeg keeps hanging. We will have to clean up the process. I'm still bit baffled why it takes so long to generate the thumbnail. The firewire connection doesn't seem like a bottleneck.

No problem

When 15 ffmpeg processes scan that file over wifi ... no way...

I test some things: Kill all ffmpeg processes while I'm in the movie view (still loading there), got an client error. go back to the table view. Filename becomes invalid sign now, but its starts an ffmpeg process on my mac ... only one. Then I select the file, I now got the normal View (without thumb) with invalid text and can't play back ... timeout error after some time.

After some minutes and client restart on my iPhone... surprise ... there is an fresh icon there. Select it, start playback... and it works

So only the procedure to generate the thumbs is the problem here...

Okay, we'll need to fix thumbnail generation to prevent spawning multiple ffmpeg processes for single file.

For what it's worth, I've seen as similar problem, just not with as many ffmpeg procesess... I can also send a thumbnail generation log file if that would be useful (running on Vista)
