TV Out won't work with iOS Firmware 4.0

It's a stop gap solution for the tv out (though it only works through wifi, not 3g, but it does work over the internet, not just within your home network)...

Still hoping Air Video gets this taken care of, the streaming quality is superior!

Hell yes Air video is superior to any thing else I have seen. Oplayer can not compare the picture is not as smooth as AirVvideo. Oplayer interface is also a bit clunky as you have to download the videos to your iPhone taking up your storage space. And The TV out DOES NOT work like claimed by a poster above with 4.0 or perhaps the issue with Oplayer is in 4.01 either way it did not work on my phone. Also you can not access your PC over 3g. IMO Oplayer gets a big thumbs down. Dont waste the 2.99.

At the present since both apps cant do TV out stay with Air Video as it is superior.

I talked directly to Apple and they blamed Airvideo for their programming. Apple's official stand is that they didnt do anything to prevent the app from broadcasting via TV Out.

I'm really wondering who exactly did you talk to, since the official Apple position is that TV out for 3rd party applications is only officially supported on iPhone 4 and iPad. Also Air Video should support TV out in next update.

I went right down to an Apple store and talked to the manager when i returned the Composite AV cable kit(that was useless). As you stated: Air Video should support TV Out in the next update, implies that Air Video is the sourse of the TV Out breakdown. As far as 3rd party Apps only supported on the iphone 4 and Ipad, I am unsure. I live in Canada and Apple views us like a red headed stepchild and we havent gotten the IPhone 4 yet, lol.

When is the next update coming out that will support tv out? This is a real problem would have never upgraded the firmware if I had known!!!

+1 I could have lived without folders and multitasking. I guess if we were regulars to this forum we would have known.

I guarantee this isnt the only app messed up by the upgrade. Apple should offer us a simple downgrade untill the issue of broken apps is adressed.

I paid good money for many of my apps and I should be able to use the full funcionality. Someone needs to do something Either the third party folks or apple.

For me giving us the option to go back would temporarily give us back our functionality. I think a class action suit would be in order. Against who is hard to tell. Not necessarily against the app makers but allot of people are due refunds for the apps and the cables purchased specifically to use with the apps.

BTW I am not mad at Air Video or Apple I am mad at both for not playing nicely together.

If the admin was talking about air video update you are right if the admin was talking about the next os4 update you are wrong.

after upgrading my 3g to ios4 i tried to use AirVideo today.
it isn't working with my av-composite cable anymore.
the ipod and youtube app do work.

i've read this thread but i couldn't find out who is responsible for this "bug".

is it apple? do they "force" us to buy an iphone 4?
is it airvideo? is there going to be a fix (soon)? for 3g and 3gs?

i quite like apple. i accept that certain things don't work. but if they start breaking working things i just won't buy apple products anymore.
45€ for a (now) useless tv out cable is just to expensive.

can someone answer my questions?

Hope the Air Video upgrade is coming soon, so I don't have to return my AV-composite cable to the Apple store

I am very disappointed that the tv out is disabled. Tv out was the primary use for my Ipod touch with the mini projector.. How come you-tube works and air-video has stopped working. Someone find a fix please or if there is no fix I would like to know how to downgrade.

I've just gotten hold of the Apple AV-composite cable today, and I can confirm that AirVideo works like a charm with TVOUT BUT only when used in conjunction with TVOUT2.

So my advice for an interim fix would be to download TVOUT2 from Cydia. Gotta jailbreak it first though...

I just discovered Air Video Free a few weeks before I upgraded to iOS 4 and put the full version on my "To Buy" list of apps along with Things, FieldRunners, and iStat. Than I discovered the TV Out problem. Like everyone else I get audio but no video and other apps that use video out work fine.

I don't care right now who is to blame. I think this software is really interesting and hope they get it working again so I can buy the full version, I already bought the other apps on my list and looking forward to getting this one. Aside from this problem it worked great for me and the free version convinced me I should buy the full version. Good luck to the devs!
