Here's the speed of my connection from the remote site:

2mbs should be sufficient. This is for wifi. Understand that 3G will be more unstable. However, though wifi would not buffer as much.
Will post the dl speed when I'm remote, where I actually use wifi more than 3G. That should be a stable connection.
Just did a speedtest. Upload speedtest from my home connection is .77mbs. That should be sufficient right?

The DL speed via wifi, which I use whilst outside (ie. from work), is around 1.5mbs. Will post a speedtest later today.
- Buffering over the internet, both wifi and 3G
- Using beta server

Here's the log. Thanks for your help

Hi,

Installed this on a quicker C2D e7200 machine. Whilst it's improved the playback with live conversion, its still buffers quite often (not as bad as the p4 machine).

I've lowered the quality and res, which improves connection. However still get the buffer issue.

Tried to on the following:
- playing mkv from local drive (host local drive)
- playing avi from network drive

Guess we can attribute this to bandwidth then?

Really want this to work as I've a great solution. Will save me from converting all my videos to m4v format.

Okay thanks. I can try it on a C2D.

Files that are already converted have probably bigger bitrate than your bandwidth is.

Based on what you mentioned above, it is better to convert / transcode the files, thus making it best suited for the iphone?

Ie. if both Play and Play live conversion options are available, is it better to choose the latter as the former may have bigger bitrates, etc.

Again appreciate your responses.
PC spec:
- P4 2.8ghz
- 2gbs RAM

Yeah I do get the warning over the local network. Actual message states "Warning. Your computer seems to be too slow to be able to convert this video live. Do you want to continue anyway?""

And it still buffers over the local network. Am I safe to assume that this is a PC speed issue? Under processes (task manager), the ffmpeg.exe is on 98% utlization.

Oppss, my post above. Forgot to login.
Hi, great app first and foremost!

Just had a question on buffering when streaming remotely over wifi. Playback buffers every few seconds. Is this due to connection or due to the spec of the host PC (ie. which is a P4 3ghz machine).

Setup:
- Port fwd setup in router
- Connect manually to server / host - IP:port

Appreciate your feedback.
