With the latest beta, most times I start up my Mac, Air Video Server freezes. I have it so AVS automatically opens up when I start computer. But now when I do this AVS freezes. When I run mouse over AVS icon in statusbar, it shows the spinning rainbow mouse icon. Why does Air Video freeze and not open up or work now? I have latest Mac software and the latest beta. Any ideas guys? I can't even use this now because of this issue!
Admin wrote:Don't you have an OS X Tiger? If you do UPnP will not help you. For Tiger you will have to configure the port forwarding manually (in your router's settings).

Yea I have Tiger! Sorry to ask, but how exactly do I configure the port forwarding manually??

Like what do you mean Im suppose to do by that?
Idk if upnp is activated or not? I cant seem to figure out how to do that? There is something in the interface that says upnp but if I check it or uncheck it, I still cant get air video to work over 3G connection.
Ok, got it. Thanks
I know that this app isnt made for tiger, but it still works on it, kinda, so I was wondering if possibly, ever, could the enable access from internet work on a tiger computer, in a later update somehow?

Because whenever I click it, it just crashes! But otherwise the app works just fine.
And I can't figure out this port forwarding thing, its to confusing for me!
Im on an iphone 3GS with 10.4.11 Tiger iMac.

Thanks for the help!
KaBui16 wrote:Thanks for the Quick Reply. In my preference setting for AirVideo there is only Scaling Mode and Check for WiFi. When I turn off Check for WiFi and use 3g it just stuck on Loading screen forever. Anyone has a complete step by step with screen shot on how to do this. This application is great but difficult to set up 3g.

Thanks Noob.

I agree! This would be helpful ha
Admin wrote:Your router should support UPnP (unless it has an old firmware). To enable it you need to go to your router's administration interface. Once you enable the UPnP, Air Video server should be able to configure the port mapping itself.

So, this will allow me to use Air Video Server from my iphone on a 3G connection not just Wifi, right??
Admin wrote:You need to be more specifc. A "Linksys" router is not enough information. Anyway, if your router supports UPnP and it has it enabled Air Video Server should be able to configure the port mapping itself.

However to connect from internet without knowing the exact IP address you need new Air Video client that has not been approved by Apple yet. Hopefully they will do so soon.

This is how remote connection should work with the new client http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/remote-access.html .

Ok thanks so far... but lets see, I have a Wireless-G Broadband Router. The model is WRT54G.
Can this router support what I want it to do?

And how exactly do I configure this router with forwarding and all to get it to work??

Please help, and thanks for helping so far! I just don't know exactly what I am doing
plnet wrote:I believe the adress "makintosh.local" won't work when you're trying to connect from the internet. You have to find out your computer's IP adress (to do it, try www.whatismyip.com , for example) and add it into server list on the iPhone

Ok, I did what you said, but when I do that a message pops up saying "Communication Error: error occured while communicating with server; timed out"
How do I fix this?????
....
I want to use Air Video on my iphone when I'm about and not on my wifi.
1.What do I need to do to get this to work???
I want to use my 3G internet connection, but whenever I try that and click on my server(macintosh.local) it says it cannot connect to it!
2.How do I fix this??

I'm using an iphone 3GS with an iMac computer.
And I'm using a "Linksys" router!
3.Does this kind of router work for use of Air Video off my local wifi?
4.How do I do the port forwarding thing???

Thanks
