Just to chip in, I'm another iPad 2 user who is experiencing the same issues as described in this thread and which some other iPad 2 users describe in the separate thread entitled 'constant pausing during live playback'.

I think there are far too many instances of iPad 2 users describing the same experience to be a coincidence, and I'm sure there's a real issue going on here. It would be great to get to the bottom of it, identify the issue and take it from there, whether it's an AirVideo update that is required or whether it's the Apple Firmware or hardware, it needs some proper investigation.

I can appreciate the situation for Admin, it must be really frustrating to not be able to replicate the problem and therefore not have a starting place from which to analyse or systematically go through the possible contributing factors, but to be fair it sounds like Admin have a 1st gen iPad and without the same hardware as those reporting the problem, what is the likelihood of being able to recreate it? - not that I'm suggesting Admin should have every kind of device, machine or platform at their disposal!

I work in web development/IT sector, and it is fair to say a lot of the problems you can get reported do lie 'between chair and keyboard' but I've seen separate issues affect iPhone 3G/3GS/4 users differently so why isn't it possible that an issue is present with iPad 2 that isn't present on iPad 1?

If Admin would like to come up with a testing procedure I'm sure a few IPad 2 users would be more than happy to offer their findings.

I'm pleased if the cold restart really did help Maskinen, but I've got to say it made no difference to the issue for me. Be interested to hear if it solved the problem for anyone else?

That works perfectly.

Tested with a subtitled movie - wonderful!

Here you go, the library file it first looks for I don't have under that route:

No luck,

I've installed the Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6 (from installed 5).
I'm not sure where it installs to, but it still isn't in the System/Library/Frameworks route that Air Video 2.2 is looking for?

Barking up the wrong tree?!

Sorry this so long winded ...
Looks to me that 2.2 utilities the Java Framework that 2.17 didn't?
Without the correct Java version it is looking for, you get the fail I guess.

I'm currently updating system to include the latest version and will re-try 2.2.

Cheers
No problem, appreciate the efforts afforded in your assistance.

Here is console log when opening 2.2 for OS X - and server initiation fails:

While here is console log when opening 2.1.7 for OS X - application works perfectly:

cheers
This (for me anyway) is exactly how it behaved in previous releases.
I never let any application have a 'forever' connection, and so the application asks 'permission' from me to access it's required connections - that's I imagine, fairly standard user behavior, and not that unusual?
leaves me wondering what is specific to this release that doesn't initiate the server application that yesterday using the earlier version did?
There are no Little Snitch 'rules' in place to deny access to Air Video now or in the past.

The downloaded .dmg process went fine, the application installed OK and didn't give me any alert so say it needed a system restart or anything like that, needless to say, I have tried a complete restart and the connection still fails to initiate the server.

I suppose I can run Air Video back to a previous version for now, but I'd be interested in seeing whether any other Mac Users have similar issues with this new version.
I think to be fair, then we'll see if considering it a 'mac thing' or a 'little snitch' connection rule will be proved right or wrong.
I'm just very surprised that an update no longer runs on a system that hasn't changed?

Thanks anyway.
Here's same screenshot but 'details' are expanded to show IP and DNS it's attempting to reach.

I'm not using any firewall settings for Air Video that wouldn't allow connection.

cheers
Hi,

Yeah no problem.

It's a standard Mac connection dialogue box for permissions rather a 'dialogue log' type of thing.

Clicking any of the radio buttons gives same result - no launch of application.

Previously I've had a trouble-free experience with Air Video, in earlier versions same connection dialogue box would initiate launch and server would appear in my top tab bar alongside the date and time etc.

I'm not using Snow Leopard, just regular Leopard.

cheers
Hi,

Mac user with Mac OSX 10.5.8.

'Check for updates' today installed the latest server release.

Clicking the newly installed Air Server application now doesn't start up at all?
A connection dialogue box appears attempting to reach imethod - but after that, nothing at all?!

Any advice?
