Now I have to eat my words. It would not work last night. I go to bed and try it this morning and everything works. Very weird...

Same here. It worked great until I updated the atv2 to 4.2.1. Now I have the same problem. The atv2 shows up but does not take over. Could the devs pease verify they are seeing the same problem?

It really is very slick. I can switch between the iPad and my apple tvs almost seamlessly. If air video would just pull album art in order to create a cover flow type interface then I would be very happy...

You have to have an apple tv 2 on the same network.
I have it working and it is awesome. I will be buying at least one more atv2.

You will need the latest Airplay server and software on your iPad/iPhone. You will also need 4.3 on your ATV2 and iPad/iPhone, which will be released on Friday. Once you have in all on 4.3 with all the Airplay stuff the you should be able to stream Video from your iDevice to the ATV2.

When will it be supported?

Admin wrote:Guys, really. The reason for this beta releases is to give app developers chance to keep up with API changes. It's not meant for general usage. Also we have submitted an bugfix update to AppStore before the beta was released (so the update doesn't reflect the changes). Now if we pull the update and replace it with another one, it will get to the end of review queue again.
Double +1
Seriously guys. Us Regular joes are not even supposed to have 4.2 yet. As the admin stated a beta release is meant to allow devs to to verify compatability etc.. Let's do them a favor and let them do that.
peace
+1 to this. I have access to the code also but I will not place it on my personal devices because things will be broken and I expect them to be broken. I will be the first to place it on my devices when it goes golden and the first to complain it things are still broken. So be patient and smart about it.

Admin wrote:I don't think Air Video will be able to use Air Play. It's not very likely that they expose this functionality to 3rd party developers.
Also, Air Play probably transmits encoded mp4 stream (the video itself), not decoded picture.
Have they seeded 4.2 beta out yet to know if this is a fact or not. Like you I am afraid Apple will close this down but I do have some hope that Apple will do the right thing on this problem and not close it down for their use only.

What are the new 2.4 features in the client?

I think he means that he has submitted a new iPad and iPhone 2.4 client to apple, not the server which is posted here. The apple process can take up to 5 business days but have been seeing things move faster the last week or two...

Sorry. I missed the 1080p requirement. But I have a mac mini 2.4 with 2GB of RAM and it is working perfectly for regular DVD rips of my DVDs. I do not have a BD player for my MAC mini yet so I can not back up any of my BDs to test the 1080p for you.
I am converting all my DVDs using MakeMKV. This allows me to keep things in a non-compressed format and allows me to go back to TS-Folders if I want. This also gives me the ability to have one set of files and folders for both my Plex Setup and my Air Video setup. I can stream one movie on my TV from the Mac mini using Plex and play air video on my iPad at the same time with zero issues.
I am extremely happy with this setup!

Hmm. Didn't think about that for Plex. That is going to be annoying...

1. Love support for TS_Folders so that I do not have to handbrake all my movies just for Air Video.
2. Love to have it pull info from IMDB for info and cover art on the movies. So that you could do a cover flow type of interface.
3. +1 for the Single Server Entry, so that App figures out if to use Internet or Local connection.
4. +1 for "I request AirVideo makes me ice cream and chicken wings on demand."

I have the 2.4 version of the MAC mini. I will test it out tonight and let you know, but I suspect that it will be more than enough power for Air Video. I just got it a week ago and have been screwing around with PLEX for all my local viewing of the movies on the Mac Mini, tonight I will load Air Video on it and use Handbrake to convert my TS folders to MP4 so I can have it on the rest of my devices.
Just think, if the new apple TV actually moves to the IOS then Air Video will be become a major player in the TV market...
