I tried with my iPod Touch 3G 64GB but it failed with a "This Device Isn't Eligible For the Requested Build" error.

These were my steps:

1. Entered DFU mode.
2. In iTunes clicked Alt-Restore and browsed to a iPod3,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw file.
3. Waited a few minutes, then the error.
4. Also tried with recboot but no joy.

BTW - the above ihackintosh link seems to contradict itself...

I was able to get video out to work in the newest version of StreamToMe by launching the app with the cable already attached to the phone and the app in landscape orientation. If you launch the video with the phone held vertically it just outputs audio.

I don't know if anyone else can try this and see if they can confirm this working for them.

BTW, what do you mean by a "legal loop hole"? The StreamToMe app has the TVout function advertised in iTunes description as one of the main features... Seams to me that Apple would notice

Thanks for the tip. I only tried it today. It worked once - then stopped. After that - audio only. I'll reset everything (server, iPod) and try again.

I think not, so if streamtome TVOUT works on 3GS with ios4, i don't see why air video doesn't.

First thing I do is install everything test it works locally, it does. So I plug in the composite cable to watch a movie on TV and then find it doesn't output to the TV.

It's a stop gap solution for the tv out (though it only works through wifi, not 3g, but it does work over the internet, not just within your home network)...

Oplayer can not compare the picture is not as smooth as AirVvideo. Oplayer interface is also a bit clunky as you have to download the videos to your iPhone taking up your storage space. And The TV out DOES NOT work like claimed by a poster above with 4.0 or perhaps the issue with Oplayer is in 4.01 either way it did not work on my phone. Also you can not access your PC over 3g. IMO Oplayer gets a big thumbs down. Dont waste the 2.99. I went right down to an Apple store and talked to the manager when i returned the Composite AV cable kit(that was useless). As you stated: Air Video should support TV Out in the next update, implies that Air Video is the sourse of the TV Out breakdown. As far as 3rd party Apps only supported on the iphone 4 and Ipad, I am unsure. I paid good money for many of my apps and I should be able to use the full funcionality. Someone needs to do something Either the third party folks or apple.

For me giving us the option to go back would temporarily give us back our functionality. I think a class action suit would be in order. Against who is hard to tell. Not necessarily against the app makers but allot of people are due refunds for the apps and the cables purchased specifically to use with the apps.

EDIT: I got it to work! Don't know how, though. I installed a TV-Out app from Cydia which didn't quite work as it should, so I unistalled it again. After that, everything worked fine. Maybe I just needed to reboot my iPhone, that's what I did before I uninstalled the Cydia app.

The issue is that when I attempt to play a movie (live conversion) with the Apple composite cable plugged in, I get the "preparing Video"Screen and then after a minute the screen just returns to the previous screen where you choose how you want to play the movie. Nothing appears on the TV. This happens every time i hit the play with live conversion button.

The TV out cable works, i tried it with an official itunes download. The movie I was attempting to play also works and everything is set up correctly in Air Video. Also i was attempting this over WIFI on my home network.

My iphone is a jailbroken 3G with OS 3.1.3

I read the previous pages but truthfully am slightly confused. Should Air Video TV out work with my setup, is it just a setting i'm neglecting or do i need to kill the jailbreak and download iOS4?

(Or should i just download TV out from Cydia?)

I love the app, probably the best thing i downloaded on the iphone. It worked amazingly well over the weekend on a bad 3G signal! Any help would be much appreciated.

I've got a 2nd gen iPod Touch running the latest iOS (4.2.1). I plug it into the cables for the tv, start up the app, and select a video. While the video is buffering on the computer (iMac G5 10.5., the screen shows that it is plugged into a TV and that video will run through the TV. But once the video starts playing, the video appears on the iPod screen while the sound outputs to the TV. Any ideas on what's going wrong?

EDIT: I just noticed that the video is actually playing over the "iPod is connected to TV" screen...this is visible if you play a movie that doesn't fill the entire iPod screen. Do you think the dock/cable is the issue? I really want to get this working and several people I know are impressed with your app but wont buy until i get mine working correctly

Id need to report an issue. Dont know if is an already know one.
On my Iphone 4 tv out was working pretty fine until latest airvideo update.
Now it actually works and the video is streamed out to my TV but the app frame freezes and I cant adjust volume or neither skip to next track with the touch controls on the display ( preload icon keeps being on focus ).
It freezes so that I need to kill the application to go back browsing server files, so its quite an issue.
However volume and next/prev track works with the apple white remote.

There's simply just a swirly circle letting you know that it's still thinking. Interesting though, a Belkin composite video adapter/cable will play the video, but you're screwed if you have to go pee or take the popcorn out of the micro, because you can't pause it. Once you start the video, do not exit the app or yank the adapter/cable, otherwise you'll be forced to do a hard reset (at least you will with an ipod touch 3g) to fully stop the Air Video app in order for you to reopen normally to access the servers or to start playback again, because simply opting out of AV and coming right back to it without a hard reset will leave you with the same lame swirly circle screen. ]]> http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/preList/1666/18374.page http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/preList/1666/18374.page GMT
No need to continue stating that this is an issue - if it persists after update 2.4.7, then sure, be upset. Until then, if you can't wait after you've started a video, I suggest you use the convert function, then drop the files onto your iProduct. How often do you really need to pause once you've started a video anyway? First of all... what do you call "TV Out"? Just to understand the most of the posts of this topic.

Let my tell my story. This is really weird.

Nothing to do with cable, AV, etc... just to do with Air Video, Apple TV in a Local WiFi.

AirVideo is an app that really works great in my iPad 2. An amazing application. I can watch all types of video. But, when I want to pass a video from the pay version of Air Video app, where it was showing perfectly, to Apple TV 2G, I had the problem than many of you are describing: THE VIDEO KEEPS SHOWING ON THE iPAD, AND ONLY THE SOUND GOES TO THE APPLE TV 2G.

However, one day (yesterday, I think), I read something about rebooting both the device and Air Video Server, I followed that suggestions and, believe it or not, it worked once with a couple of videos.

But since that moment, I haven`t been able to get it again. So now it`s not working again, as it was doing at the begining and I don`t get it no matter the times I reboot any device, server, ATV, etc...

So, for a very little moment, it had nothing to do with 4.3 firmware version. Now, all I can do is to wait for that so important upgrade Mr. Admin is preparing us. LOL

Is this the issue that people is having?

There I was, streaming a Eureka episode (a couple of hours ago) and noticing the new Airvideo update. I thought cool, at last the play/pause fix! I updated the app to only realise that video out was completely disabled. wth?

You know what? At least this thing comes to an end. It was a VERY bumpy ride the last months. I just downloaded and set up StreamtoMe where video out works flawlessly on my 3Gs and the damn thing even lets you browse the app while its on video out!

Then the app that works with ios in 3g, it won`'t must to let to upgrade.

Why you don't identify the device and the version and in the same program
you run the code that it worked before, and in the new devices with the new
IOS you run the new code.
You have both did and only the program will be a few bigger than before.

I don't think that apple say nothing because this you are giving a good service to
your clients.
