I'm pleased to announce that new Air Video Server beta version is available.

You can download it for Mac OS X Leopard and Microsoft Windows.

Improvements in this release:
* Subtitle Support! SRT, SSA, SUB (MicroDVD) formats are supported. Text subtitle track in MKV files are also supported.
* 64bit transcoding on 64bit Macs
* Windows Installer should configure proper rules for all firewall profiles
* Optimized transcoding for multicore CPUs
* More UPnP workarounds for broken routers
* Greatly improved unicode support on Windows

Changes since beta 5:
* Option to disable embedded subtitles
* Compatibility with OS X 10.5 Leopard
* Fixed startup problems on OS X
* Important unicode fixes on Windows - Air Video can now be installed in folder that contains unicode characters, also conversion should work in unicode folders

Changes since beta 4:
* Overlapped subtitles should be supported properly.

Changes since beta 3:
* Fixed problem when Air Video Server froze on startup / shutdown.

Changes since beta 2:
* Fixed version number in Windows installer
* Fixed subtitle loading bugs
* Stability improvements

Please keep in mind that subtitle support is new. Feedback is very welcome. Also this build DOES NOT SUPPORT PowerPC Macs.
This is a beta version so treat it as such. Things might not work quite as expected

Update: If the accented characters don't show right you need to adjust subtitle encoding in Air Video Server properties.

One thing I've noticed if that a subtitle 'track' doesn't have any language specified it never gets added to the video, even though Air Video finds the track and no other tracks have my preferred language. Could there be an option to force a specific subtitle track?

Example Subtitle Log:
MkvSubtitles: Loaded MKV file; Listing tracks:
MkvSubtitles: Track 1 null; type: 1; codec: V_MS/VFW/FOURCC; lang: null
MkvSubtitles: Track 2 null; type: 2; codec: A_VORBIS; lang: null
MkvSubtitles: Track 3 null; type: 2; codec: A_VORBIS; lang: null
MkvSubtitles: Track 4 null; type: 17; codec: S_TEXT/UTF8; lang: null
MkvSubtitles: Selected track number: 4

I have installed it and it's working great so far.
No problems - have both tried "internal network/WLAN" and "external 3G" connections.
Have 2 folders setup - both PC-internal as well as a "NAS-folder" on my QNAP NAS.

Have you guys any plans to make this work as a integrated application within QNAP?
If you are not aware of it - it is the most sold NAS-application (www.qnap.com) and there
are several applications now "integrated" on the NAS, such as "Joomla", "Slimserver/Squeezebox", "Wordpress" etc.
To have the possibility to stream videos to the Iphone directly from the NAS would be great, without
the need to a PC running the Air Video Server SW.
Or are there severe processor considerations here?

Anyway - a great application - Thanx !!!!

I want to let you know that I am absolutely loving this program. I was slightly disappointed when I noticed it didn't have subtitle support, but I see you already fixed that. I have one little problem with the program, however. I have a large collection of video files spread out on six 1-TB external drives. I added all the drives to the server, but I see it just adds the drive letter, not the drive label (this is understandable). This makes things confusing for me. I am used to opening the drive labeled TV #-F if I want to watch and episode of 24 or Futurama, now I have to remember the drive letter or spend my time looking through every drive to find the correct one (and wait while the drives "wake up.") Is there any way you could add in an option to edit the names of the shared folders? I'm getting my seventh harddrive soon so things are just going to get more confusing for me.
