Re:Air Video Server 2.2.0 released

This one's kind of a biggy in my books for when I'm traveling... I don't have the time to sync my movies to my iPod after a conversion through air video (add to iTunes button) so if I'm on the run and I stop at a coffee shop or something in the air port, I'd like to take my iPod and watch movies on the plane without having to be connected with a live connection to my desktop at home.

So in the next release, would you be able to add a download button, to download the converted video to the iPod, or convert video live and download at the same time? I understand I'd have to use the app to play the movies and not the original iPod videos app. This would be great if you could do that.

so happy with the new release.... however, i was hoping that you could add some sort of playlist function, perhaps you could select many videos and this will add the videos to the list, when the first has stopped playing, it would automatically start the next one, and you could also start converting the playlist items if you wanted you... just saves having to revert backthrough the directories to find the next video you want to watch, just easier if you watching through TV out...

and MP3 SUPPORT>>>!!!
Hi,

Yeah no problem.

It's a standard Mac connection dialogue box for permissions rather a 'dialogue log' type of thing.

Clicking any of the radio buttons gives same result - no launch of application.

Previously I've had a trouble-free experience with Air Video, in earlier versions same connection dialogue box would initiate launch and server would appear in my top tab bar alongside the date and time etc.

I'm not using Snow Leopard, just regular Leopard.

cheers

Re:Air Video Server 2.2.0 released (2.2.2 for OS X)

IT doesn't really seem like OS X Firewall dialog. For one, OS X Firewall only blocks incomming connections. Also Air Video Server has signed binary, so unless the firewall is on very restrictive settings it should let Air Video Server handle all connections without any confirmation.

This looks more like little snitch network filter or something similar.

Re:Air Video Server 2.2.0 released (2.2.2 for OS X)

This (for me anyway) is exactly how it behaved in previous releases.
I never let any application have a 'forever' connection, and so the application asks 'permission' from me to access it's required connections - that's I imagine, fairly standard user behavior, and not that unusual?
leaves me wondering what is specific to this release that doesn't initiate the server application that yesterday using the earlier version did?
There are no Little Snitch 'rules' in place to deny access to Air Video now or in the past.

The downloaded .dmg process went fine, the application installed OK and didn't give me any alert so say it needed a system restart or anything like that, needless to say, I have tried a complete restart and the connection still fails to initiate the server.

I suppose I can run Air Video back to a previous version for now, but I'd be interested in seeing whether any other Mac Users have similar issues with this new version.
I think to be fair, then we'll see if considering it a 'mac thing' or a 'little snitch' connection rule will be proved right or wrong.
I'm just very surprised that an update no longer runs on a system that hasn't changed?

Thanks anyway.

Re:Air Video Server 2.2.3 released (2.2.2 for OS X)

Well, Air Video Server communicates with inmethod.com for two reasons.
One is to check for updates.
Second is to talk to our tracker service (if you have remote access enabled) or remove all data from tracker service (if you have remote access disabled).

As for whether that's standard user behavior, I really doubt most users are blocking outgoing connections (which requires separate software). However I don't think there's anything wrong about it.

You definitely shouldn't need to restart computer after Air Video Server reinstall.

At least I think that's what happened when I tapped on it...

Great update - everything seems to work.

One request: it would be so helpful to be able to delete or rename files remotely from within Air Video.

Also, any chance we could get full-landscape support in the Air Video app so we don't have to repeatedly rotate the iPhone/iPod when watching a lot of short clips?
